Travel Essentials for Families
Traveling with the family on holiday can be stressful, especially when you discover an essential piece of equipment has been left at home. Experience teaches many families that the stresses and strains of traveling with children can be minimized, particularly by taking certain items with them to help make the holiday experience one to enjoy instead of one to forget!
If you’re traveling on holiday with your family shortly, you may wish to consider taking the following essentials with you for practicality, and to save money in your resort:
Child Suitcases
There’s no better way to involve the children in the holiday experience than providing them with their suitcase that they can tow through the airport (so make sure you choose one with an extendable handle and wheels). Often, kids’ suitcases are small enough to count as hand luggage too, meaning you can save money on baggage fees when flying. For a perfect child’s travel accessory, consider purchasing a Trunki, a lightweight yet strong suitcase that is available in a variety of colors and designs. Best of all, when the kids get tired of walking, they can sit on top while you pull them along. Holiday fun is guaranteed!
Suncream and Hand Wipes
Unless you’re heading to the North Pole, the chances are you’ll encounter more intense heat and sunshine than in the UK, but purchasing suncream in your resort could prove to be costly and you won’t necessarily choose products that provide the necessary level of protection. Also, however old your children are, hand wipes to clean sticky fingers are indispensable, especially when you’re out and about in an overseas country where access to hand-washing facilities may be limited.
Tablet and Headphones
Whether you’re planning on taking photographs of an overseas city, keeping the kids entertained on a tedious flight, or hoping to enjoy some downtime while the children are entertained with a movie or book, you can’t go far wrong when you take your iPad or another tablet on holiday. You’ll no longer have to haul a small mountain of heavy books in your luggage and can access music and films instantly, especially if you have access to a WiFi connection in your resort - ideal when the kids have had enough of the pool or you just need some relaxation time yourself. Don’t forget to take headphones and, if you have more than one child, a splitter so that multiple sets of headphones can be used at once.
Baby Carrier
If you’re traveling with an infant, you may be entitled to take a pushchair on your flight for no charge, but it can still be impractical to do so when struggling with several suitcases. A baby carrier or sling is the perfect alternative for the youngest children; it’s light, easy to fold, and will enable you to take your baby anywhere when exploring your destination. Choose one that offers sun protection, to keep your little one out of direct sunlight.
